An Interview with Spears Colonel Donovan L'Inshere

Palanthas - The acting commander of the Palanthas Spears, Donovan L'Inshere granted his first interview in two weeks, following his return from a "classified" mission. He was joined by Warrant Officer Jurgen Culver.

Herald: Colonel L'Inshere you've been gone for several weeks, can you give us some clue as to where you've been.

L'Inshere: It's called a classified mission for a reason, my friend. I haven't been out of the loop though. I've been keeping tabs on the events that have transpired in my absence, thanks in no small part to the work of my liaison, Officer Culver, and the brave efforts of the staff writers at the Palanthas Herald.

Herald: Around the same time you left on your mission, the IMPS Guild was attacked by the Blue Partisans and several experimental weapons were taken. Rumors suggest the gnomes were tipped off about the attack, as none were in the building at the time of the attack. Do you know anything about that?

L'Inshere: As a matter of fact I do, Spears High Command got whiff of a move being made against the gnomes and so we them advance warning of the impending attack by the Blue Partisans, and aided the gnomes in evacuating. Unfortunately we could not intercede in time to save the guild house.

Culver: A guild hall can be rebuilt sir; the minds of the mad gnomes cannot be replaced.

L'Inshere: Yes Jürgen, but the fact that weapons were taken cannot be ignored. It makes my next order that much more important. All Spears will remain on patrol in the streets. Do not attack the palace, I repeat, do not attack the palace.

Culver: But sir, we have them where we want them! All the Partisans are in one place!

L'Inshere: Jürgen, I shouldn't have to remind you of the odds against a force attacking a fortified keep. Besides, knowing Grayson Halliwell, he has a trap or three in place. A hasty move could cost us dearly.

Culver: Yes sir.

Herald: So the Spears are going to be on the street patrolling while other rebel forces in Palanthas are making plans to assault the Palace. I applaud you for your dedication to the people of Palanthas, but don't you think you'd be better off taking the fight to the Partisans.

L'Inshere: It may seem counter intuitive I know; you'll just have to trust that Spears High Command knows what it is doing. Rest assured we haven't forgotten our blue-clad sparring partners.

Herald: Care to give us a hint of what's in store?

L'Inshere: Sorry. That's privileged information.

Herald: Thank you both for your dedication to the cause of freedom and taking a moment with us today.

Adventure Hooks

The shoe is now on the other foot. The heroes are a couple of deep cover members of the Blue Partisans who have intercepted a copy of this week's Palanthas Herald and now have to find out exactly what the mission undertaken by L'Inshere was and what plans they have made for dealing with the Blue Partisans. Once this information is uncovered the Partisans must get back to the Palace with the information in time for it to be of use against the Palanthas Spears.
