Summit Delegate Rescued

Plains of Dust - The representative from the merchant town of Haven to the Inglewood Summit was abducted by bakali then rescued by a band of Steel Legionnaires.

This past week Macklin Rivers the half-elven representative from Haven to the Inglewood Summit went briefly missing. The Inglewood Summit is a gathering of representatives of various powers to discuss the growing threat of Venom, the daughter of Sable the late Dragon Overlord. Rivers was seen leaving the small coastal fishing village of Bridgewater Majetag morning after making the short sea voyage across from Abanasinia, but failed to arrived in Inglewood.

"It's a very short trip from Bridgewater to Inglewood really," said Thorne Morland half-kender sorcerer and leader of the local Steel Legionnaires. "After two days went by, Pyihr Ramdir the Mayor here in Inglewood asked me to investigate. It took a while for us to find something, the bakali from the swamp are very good at moving without making tracks, but we did eventually. Kahn-ahg our bakali knew their tricks and was able to track them down to their camp where we found Rivers all trussed up and tied to an old dead tree. We attacked and after a brief skirmish they routed."

Morland and his legionaires returned to Inglewood with Rivers who after a brief examination by the towns cleric was declared fit and healthy. "I'm absolutely fine," Rivers said. "I was just a little tender in a few places, but Janyce Oakwood she's a good cleric and fixed me up fine and dandy. I'll be right there with all the other delegates when the summit starts next week."

Not all are as happy with how things turned out though. "It was just too easy, the fight I mean," Morland told the Herald. "The Bakali of the great swamp are brave, ferocious fighters, they don't just retreat after a short fight. Also we have sources within the swamp that say that venom has plans to disrupt the summit, to prevent any sort of united front against her. No there is something going on. And now to top it all off we have received word that the Emperor of Solamnia maybe allying with her, or at the very least is buying her creatures."
