This past week the infamous elven pirate, The Kingfisher, sought out a reporter from the Herald. As the Captain of the elven pirate ship the Ashaynnth, she wished to give a voice to elven side in several recent events.

Herald: What is it you wished to say to the readers of the Herald?

The Kingfisher: Many things, but I guess the best place to start is with the word pirate. Pirates are scum who rape and plunder for their own gratification. My crew and I do not fit this description. We are freedom fighters. We seek to liberate our ancient homeland from the foul depredation of the minotaur Empire.

Herald: But don't you have a minotaur amongst your crew?

The Kingfisher: Yes Elygar is a minotaur, but he knows what his kin are doing is dishonorable and needs to be stopped.

Herald: Can you tell me what was behind the recent abduction of Lady Santhia de Droka?

The Kingfisher: She was simply a means to regain some of what we have lost, magic in this case. Useful tools, books and scrolls of priceless knowledge and yes weapons of power to fight the minotaur.

Herald: Some say you tortured her....

The Kingfisher: I removed her horns, nothing more. I even provided her with decent food. Her people stake mine on the walls of our cities, which they stole and people say nothing. And yet when I remove her horns I instantly become a fiendish torturer. It would almost be amusing, if wasn't for the horrendous suffering of my people.

Herald: What about the doppleganger discovered by the minotaur?"

The Kingfisher: Ah yes the doppleganger. I don't know if your Emperor is in the practice of employing such evil creatures, but the presence of one of them aboard one of your naval vessels, speaks volumes.

Herald: Are you now going to be targeting Solamnia as well as the minotaurs?

The Kingfisher: No, definitely not. We have no grievances with the people of Solamnia; though I do have an issue with that Emperor yours. That attack he ordered was unjustified and even illegal under your own laws. We had not broken a single law and were just passing peacefully through your territory, when six warships armed to the teeth appeared and demanded we surrender. We did what anyone does when they are unjustly assaulted, we defended ourselves. I'm very sorry for the lives lost, but the fault lies with Jaymes Markham. That said, I will be more than a bit wary next time I encounter one of your ships.

Herald: Is there anything you'd like to say in conclusion?

The Kingfisher: We are just simple people who want our home returned. We had wanted to live in peace with the other peoples of the world, but now that we have been robbed and raped, maimed and murdered, - now we fight for what is ours, our home, our lives, our freedom.
