Venom Found Responsible For Attack

Sanction - Investigations by agents of Lord Bight have revealed that Venom, Sable's Daughter, is responsible for the recent attack on Sanction.

This past Bakukal Sergeant Vanessa Noble of the Sanction watch announced that trusted agents of Lord Hogan Bight had discovered that Venom, the diabolical daughter of the Dragon Overlord Onysablet, was responsible for the monstrous creature that attacked the port city last week. Venom is a hybrid creature part dragon, part hatori and persistent rumors say that Sable magically altered her daughter, enhancing an already formidable foe.

"It was a demonstration," said Sergeant Noble "Of the kind of damage Venom's creatures can do. One of the Lord's agents discovered representatives of the Knights of Neraka within the city and managed to convince said individuals to talk. There is strong evidence of other representatives also being here to watch the attack, but they eluded capture. Lord Bight also received confirmation of Venom's plans from a reliable elven source."

Speculation is rife throughout the city that this source is the elven pirate vessel the Ashaynnth which was seen earlier in the week in the company of the city's guardian the bronze dragon Crucible. "We fisherfolk of'en see's ol' Crucible in the bay, the ol' boy loves he's swimming'," said Jules Chijon a local fisherman. "But we sees 'im almost daily since the attack - probably a might guilty 'bout sleepin' throughs it I 'spect. Ands a couple o' morns back I saws him chatting with some elfs on a right pretty boat." Herald sources have confirmed that the Ashaynnth has been investigating the monster attacks on minotaur ships that had falsely been attributed to them, but was unable to confirm if this elven ship was indeed her.

To bolster the city's defenses Lord Bight has issued orders for a fleet of small fast vessels to be designed and built specifically to protect the harbor. Construction has begun on additional ballistae and catapults to defend the docks and patrols throughout the city have also increased. Lord Bight is also hiring adventurers willing to enter Sables swamp and thwart Venoms growing power.
