Nethosak - During the state funeral of Admiral Marak es Conlyn, a member of the extended Imperial family accused the mourners of giving up on the minotaurs manifest destiny.

This past week the minotaur empire honored their fallen hero Admiral Marak es Conlyn with a full state funeral. Admiral Conlyn who died dueling the elven pirate the Kingfisher, was accorded this honor by Emperor Faros es Kalin and Empress Maritia de Droka for being an exceptional exemplar of the minotaur nation. After being escorted back to the capital by his son, Captain Romak es Conlyn, the Admiral's body was placed on display on a bier in Nethosak's arena to enable the citizens of the empire to view it.

"For over three days the population of the Nethosak respectfully filed past my father's remains, offering silent prayers to Sargas." Romak es Conlyn said to the Herald. "On the fourth day five members of my clan and me carried my father's body through streets lined with people to the harbor, where we placed it upon a small waiting warship. The sails were raised, the rudder tied and the ship was left to sail slowly away. Archers were supposed to fire flaming arrows into the craft before it got out range, but that.... Woman interfered."

The 'woman' was Lady Santhia de Droka former ambassador to Solamnia, recently released kidnapped victim. Lady Santhia was one of the many members of the Imperial family who had gathered to witness the ceremony. Cowled and cloaked in the deepest of scarlet robes, she had stood apart from everyone refusing to speak, until it was time for the archers to launch their flaming volleys. Witnesses say she then stormed forward to where she could be seen by all and began to harangue the mourners.

"She said many things, few of which made any sense," Captain Romak continued. "She told us we were being weak willed cowards collapsing under the weight of a few rebellious tree-huggers and she only got worse. The mourners began to get truly angry when she accused us all of abandoning our manifest destiny, but in her troubled state she didn't seem to care even to the point of showing the world her shame."

Lady de Droka's shame is the loss of her horns, in which minotaurs put much pride. Lady Santhia's horns were removed by the elven pirates during her captivity.

"By the time the guards had moved Lady Santhia along, my father's ship was well out of range, which was when the Ashaynnth arrived. The elves released a volley of fire arrows and the funerary ship was aflame."

There were calls from several of the minotaurs in the gathered mourners to chase the elves, but few were the vessels that put to sea and the elves were long gone by the time those minotaurs did. The Imperial family has released a statement saying that Lady Santhia has gone to Ambeon on an extended hunting trip.
