Druids Pledge To Protect Inglewood

Abanasinia - A local circle of druids has entered an agreement with the town council of Inglewood to use their powers in its defense.

The small, but rapidly growing town of Inglewood in Abanasinia situated on the edge of Sable's swamp has joined forces with a local circle of druids. These druids are woodland priests, protectors of the animal kingdom and representatives of the god Habbakuk, the Fisher King.

"We have long watched this town and it's people," said Darvin Mahloc, druid of Habbakuk. "The hunters are careful not to take too many, well aware that they are dependant on the continuation of these species. All life is connected; we cannot survive without each other. The town council has agreed to enforce limitations on the hunters, certain seasons for certain animals, certain numbers for a few specific species and prohibitions on others. The town has also promised land for a temple that will double as headquarters for our agents monitoring all these conditions."

"The negotiations were long, hard and exhausting," said Pyihr Ramdir, lead guildsman and the towns recently elected first Mayor. "We had always thought our town existed in harmony with the natural world, but we had no idea how wrong we were. The druids have promised to help us improve the design of the drainage system, so that it doesn't affect our water or harm the surrounding farmland. They are also helping us in setting up a system of communication using message carrying pigeons to help us with early warnings."

Inglewood is a frontier town undergoing a small economic boom, profiting from the natural wealth that can be found in Sable's swamp. Recently the town has become aware of a growing threat from within the heart of the swamp; a mutant child of the former dragon overlord called venom is gathering armed forces. The Legion of Steel has provided a small company of veteran warriors, archers, infantry and cavalry. They have also said they are working on other methods to ensure the ongoing safety of the town.

Whether or not these precautions will be enough to withstand the armies of the swamp is uncertain and there are additional reasons for concern, word about the town of Inglewood says that Venom has recently negotiated an alliance with the Knights of Neraka. When asked if this was true the half-kender commander of the Steel Legionnaires, Thorne Morland gave the following reply. "I can confirm that negotiations between the two parties have taken place, but our information says that they have as yet been unable to reach an accord."
