Ransom Demanded For Ambassador's Return

Nethosak - The Minotaur Empire has received a ransom demand from the kidnappers of Santhia de Droka.

After almost a month of no news as to the whereabouts of Lady Santhia de Droka, a ransom letter was delivered to the Imperial family. Eyewitness accounts confirm that Faros es Kalin and Maritia de Droka, the Imperial couple were attending the gladiatorial competitions at the arena in the capital of Nethosak when a falcon flew down out of the sky, dropping a small scroll into the Empress's lap.

"We were all enjoying the spectacle of the combat," said Shaynok Hearthstone, a blacksmith and merchant from Kalaman. "Their beer may be a little weak, but they sure know how to put on a show! That grizzled champion of theirs, Doall ohn Kinnon had just disposed of a giant sized hyena with just a simple spear and had turned to receive his Emperor's and Empress's blessings, when this silly bird swooped down unbelievably fast and dropped a scroll right in Empress Maritia's lap. They keep archers stationed around the arena when there is royalty in attendance, but none of the archers reacted, too surprised at the sight, I guess. Daoll ohn Kinnon however, threw his spear right at the buzzard, but it bounced off, like it hit a stone wall! Stank of sorcery it did, elven sorcery too."

Officials from within the minotaur government have refused to make public the contents of the scroll, but did confirm that it was indeed a ransom note for Santhia de Droka. It is believed that there was a personal item bound within the scroll to prove the kidnappers claim as genuine. Wild rumors have been circulating throughout the city, suggesting a finger or an ear or even the tip of one of Lady de Droka's horns. This last rumor has generated much anger amongst the citizens of the empire as minotaur place a lot of pride in their horns.

"If this outrageous story is true, there'll be the Abyss to pay!" stated Marak es Conlyn, an admiral in the minotaur navy. "We as a nation will not stand for such reprehensible treatment of one of our most honorable warriors. We will march to war. We will take this continent apart piece by piece, grain of sand by grain of sand to find the ones responsible. Our honor demands nothing less!"

On a related subject, this past Kirinor there was a possible sighting of the elven pirate ship the Ashaynnth, which is responsible for Santhia de Droka's kidnapping. The war galley Sargas' Hammer was patrolling the Blood Sea, when it spotted a vessel fitting the Ashaynnth's description, but was unable to catch the fast moving vessel. The minotaurs have begun to concentrate their efforts there.
