Hero or Villain: The Herald Interviews Galen Dracos

Palanthas - The current temporal instability has enabled the Herald to interview one of Krynn's most infamous megalomaniacs, or not as it turned out.

This past Kirinor afternoon an oddly assorted pair arrived at the gates of Palanthas, a kender and a hooded emerald robed mage. "When the mage removed his hood we all cringed," said Angus Sponath of the Palanthas Guard. "He was reptilian, there is just no other way to describe him. What hair he had, was long, thin and straggly, forming one of them widow's peak. His skull was stretched, elongated with a pronounced jaw. Instead of skin, he had a thin coating of what looked like scales. When we asked him what his business in Palanthas was, he said he wanted to visit the library. We told him that they didn't allow kender he just laughed and said 'I wonder why.'"

Surprisingly, the kender was admitted by the aesthetics along with the mage. It wasn't until the following day when the pair left, that the Herald was able to approach them in an effort to gain an interview, which they were only too happy to oblige.

The Herald: "Thanks for taking the time to talk with us today. Just so our readers know who it is we are talking to could you please state your names."

Dracos: "My name is Galen Dracos."

Delbin: "And I'm Delbin Knotwillow. Wow this place is so interesting I'm gonna have lots to tell Emperor Avondale when we get home. He's the Emperor the Holy Ergothian Empire and...."

Dracos: "Take a breath Delbin. As you may have guessed, we are not from your timeline. This is an interesting phenomenon, one I would never have thought it possible - randomly skipping between timestreams, but then I have seen many things ordinary people would find hard to believe."

The Herald: "Describe your Krynn for us. How does it differ from our own?"

Dracos: "From what I have learned, our worlds took differing paths during the Third Dragon War. In my world, a servant of Morgion called Rennard, a treacherous knight of Solamnia, found a way of infecting magic itself. Casting a spell would infect a mage with hideous flesh eating disease; as a result the Orders of High Sorcery were decimated."

The Herald: "How is it that you came to resemble a humanoid reptile; if you don't mind us asking?"

Delbin: "Galen caught the Scourge when he and Magius used their magic to save Huma from the smelly plague knights and the icky pestilence dragons."

Dracos: "Thanks Delbin. I put all my strength into finding a cure. After a lot of effort I discovered one. My third attempt worked, but it had some drastic side effects, altering my physical body to what you see now. Refining the process I saved the remaining mages without disfiguring them. Together the combination our arcane might with the martial strength of the Knights of Solamnia was able to defeat the forces of the Dark Queen and her diseased consort Morgion."

The Herald: "You said you were allied with Huma and Magius on your world. What became of your Huma and his other allies?"

Delbin: "We lost a lot of friends during the final days of the war," continued Delbin. "Huma and Gwyneth, Magius, Buoron.... But I did my part, together Sir Bennett and I managed to slay the cruel minotaur Warlord Kaziganthi de Orilg."

Dracos: "Delbin is correct many of those who stood up to the Dark Queen and Morgion paid with their lives. Were it not for the dragonflails many more might have perished."

The Herald: "Thanks for taking the time to speak to us today. Is there anything else you wish our audience to know before we end this interview?"

Dracos: "Yes beware the recently discovered temporal rift. It was through one such rift that Delbin and I came to be here and now."

The strange pair is currently residing at Myrtle's Roost dockside inn.
