Temporal Rift Discovered in Palanthas

Palanthas – A rift in time and space has been discovered in Palanthas.

The rift was discovered early Misham morn by an alert squad of City Guardsmen near the site of the destroyed Shrine of Takhisis. The City Guardsmen quickly cordoned off the area and ushered away curious bystanders.

The Herald was initially denied access to the site, but a petition by Senator H.S. Ravenmantle, Co-Founder of the Palanthas Herald to Emperor Markham secured credentials for us to provide information to a curious public.

Corporal Shara Thrace of the City Guard was the commanding officer of the squad that discovered the rift. She told the Herald, "I cannot comment much about the rift as most of what the White Witch, excuse me, Lady Coryn told us sounded like mumbo jumbo. What I can tell you is that this "temporal rift" as Lady Coryn referred to it supposedly connects Palanthas to another time."

Lady Coryn could not be reached for comment though one of her apprentices, a red robe named Leetah Calder told the Herald, "The Conclave is looking into the matter. I cannot comment more except to say we don't as yet know what if any danger the rift poses. Until the Conclave finishes its investigation, I must ask everyone to stay away from the site."

"I have to agree with Calder's assessment," said Thrace. "This is no place for lookie-loos. That rift doesn't look dangerous, but neither does a sleeping ogre."

The site of the temporal rift sits at the point of what was once the foundation stone of the Shrine of Takhisis. According to records obtained from both the Civil Engineering Guild and the Cartographers Guild, the land that the shrine once rested on was sold to Ethan Oakhurst IV, owner of Oakhurst Manor which is a private members only club located in the Trade Exchange District.

The Herald contacted Lord Oakhurst to get his views on the discovery.

"Well better to have discovered such a phenomena now, than in six weeks when we will break ground on the Oakhurst Academy," said Lord Oakhurst. "I only hope that this rift can be closed. The Conclave has my full support to investigate by whatever means they deem necessary in order to solve the issue."

The site of the temporal rift is remains under round the clock protection by the City Guard while the Conclave conducts its investigation.
