Gully Dwarf Claims Dwarven Throne

Kayolin - A curious story has arisen from the dwarven kingdom of Kayolin. A week past, a group of Aghar, more commonly referred to as gully dwarves appeared at Kayolin's Dualgates, boldly demanding entrance to the kingdom in the name of one High King Irontooth.

Initially reported by the Solamnic ambassador to the realm, Lord Emmeris Kelthe, it has raised not only a few eyebrows but a fair number of nervous laughs as well.

Lord Kelthe, who was finishing up a tour of the Dualgates operating mechanism at the time, related the encounter. "I honestly couldn't believe my eyes or my ears...or my nose for that matter. There, not a dozen yards below me, were a group of dwarves, well dressed and equally armed sitting astride large warhorses. They were most certainly gully dwarves as I've seen a good number here in Garnet Thax, from their smaller build to their exaggerated facial features. These mounted fellows were both clean, capable, and well spoken...no trace of fear or lack of intelligence and did I mention there was no foul smell at all?"

The apparent leader of the Aghar band presented himself as none other than High King Irontooth himself. Lord Kelthe, no stranger to lordly titles, was suitably impressed, "This Irontooth, after stunning us all with his proclamation then went on to rattle off several more honorifics. Between Crusher of This and Bringer of That, he named himself Heir of the Calnar and Wielder of the Legacy of Kharas. I didn't quite understand all of it as his dialect of the dwarven tongue was unfamiliar to me but it certainly made those Hylar manning the gates somewhat uncomfortable."

A runner was dispatched to the court of King Smashfingers and soon after a delegation arrived to receive the unusual group. "This be a strange group for sure," said Daewar guard captain, Lars Morningkill, who helped escort the Aghar to the king's audience chamber. "Not only do they speak with silver tongues but they manage to look down on you even when you're taller than they are and I won't even mention those beasts they call horses! And that fella, Irontooth...claimin' to be the bloody king of the dwarves of Krynn he is! He's got a jeweled helm and everything. Even addressed His Majesty as governor. I thought His Majesty was gonna take the little fella's head clean off!"

One of King Smashfinger's ministers, a follower of Reorx, who preferred to remain anonymous, gave this observation regarding the gully dwarf claimant of the dwarven throne, "He (Irontooth) and his men seem curious as to how a Hylar has risen to power and why so many of his clan and the Daewar show a good measure of success. I even heard one of Irontooth's guards wondering aloud to another how such was possible. He said he didn't think the other clans could count any higher than two."
