Caergoth - Kingfisher Raelene uth Nuelan returned to Caergoth early Misham morn carrying the head of the statue of Tierney the Compassionate.

Last seen astride a gold dragon chasing after the fiery statue more than a week ago, Nuelan still riding dragonback was seen flying over the city during the pre dawn darkness. She and the noted dragonsage Tobias au'Rearsann entered the city a short time later, the young kingfisher carrying the still flaming head of the statue in a large crystal globe. The two disappeared into the kingfisher's magical laboratory and did not emerge until the following evening.

"We followed the statue for a long time," said Kingfisher Raelene uth Neulan. "It's path was erratic, but generally easterly, it eventually led us to what we believe to be one of the lairs of the red dragon whose blood started all this. We confronted the statue and with help of Roaringstar.... The gold dragon who flew us there, we pretty much destroyed it, except the head which we kept to help solve this mystery. We have spent the last day in my workshop confirming what we feared."

The red dragon was identified by Roaringstar the gold dragon as a ruthless wyrm known as Bloodpyre, who had ties with the deceased red Overlord Malystryx. He was a minor servant and spy for the great red, always dwarfed by her more powerful allies. He was however ambitious and the fact that Bloodpyre survived in such a deadly environment, amongst so many adversaries speaks to his cunning.

"Bloodpyre has always been obsessed with his own personal power," said Tobias au'Rearsann Dragonsage. "We found evidence in his lair that he had been trying to create Dragonspawn of his own, even though he lacks a crucial item. Having no success with that, he moved on and tried to imbue himself with some of the abilities and properties of a fire dragon without taking any of the hindrances those despicable servants of chaos are inflicted with. It was the energies of chaos that pulsed in Bloodpyre's fiery blood that gave life to the statue."

Solamnic authorities are offering steel for information pertaining to Bloodpyre.
