Eccentric Artist Hospitalized

Gwynned - A local, renowned artist was found unconscious in her Inn room earlier yesterday, by a priest of Sirrion who was her friend.

Drew Mania, 31, the artist for Mercidith Redic, Princess and leader of the Silver Hearts, was alone in her room above The Peninsula working on apiece recently commissioned by Redic. The artists had not been seen for several days, apparently having missed her deadline. This prompted Redic to send someone to check in on her.

"When I opened the door I could not believe what I saw. It shook me to the bone," said Lew Auran, 30, a Priest of Sirrion and Drew's friend, "She was lying on top of a canvas, covered in paint and blood. She was breathing but her eyes were empty, lifeless, and dull like the dead."

"Mania was crazy," said Grimjaw Coralkeeper, 98, the dwarf owner of the Peninsula. "She would only come down stairs during the night, no shoes, red hair, and wild and matted, asking for water or fruit. Then back up she would go, leaving a trail of paint for my wenches to clean up. Good riddance I say!"

Some witnesses said that they had heard noises the night before from Mania's room. Others said that there was screaming and stuff crashing against the walls.

"I think someone did this to here," said Bamm Cranks, another inn proprietor. "She refused to paint for them, so they had her taken care of."

Auran and Redic managed to get Mania moved to the Shrine of the Heart and into the care of the Silver Hearts, but did not comment as to her status.

"We're just happy she is still alive," said Redic. "Beyond that, we know very little as to what has happened to her. Believe me; we are doing everything in our power to help her." Mystics ruled out the use of force, as there was little sign of physical injury, except for a small cut on her foot. "The blood found in her room was from a cut on her foot. It seems she stepped on a paint jar," said Auran. "There is no other sign of physical trauma."

Drew Mania's name has been on the lips of the people of Gwynned as she recently won a contest to be the personal artist of Redic. She competed against several artists in a contest that included sculpting as well as a painting. In the end, by popular vote, she won the contest.

"I doubt any of the other contestants would do anything to harm her," Auran said, "sure they are passionate about their art but none of them are killers."
