Spears Marshal Calls On Emperor Markham To Let Palanthians Rebuild High Clerist's Tower

Palanthas - A high-ranking military officer this week implored Emperor Jaymes Markham to let craftsmen and masons from Palanthas assist in the rebuilding of the High Clerist's Tower.

Addressing a class of twenty-four newly-commissioned third lieutenants during a graduation ceremony Linaras afternoon, Spear Marshal Donovan L'inshere lamented the decision. "My only regret is that when I once again stand the tower at your sides is that it will not be by our hands that the tower was rebuilt. But we will take up our arms to defend the tower and the city, and with our strength neither shall fall to darkness again."

The Marshal commented on his statement after the ceremony. "For four ages of this world, the Spears of Palanthas, all of whom are citizens of the province of Palanthas, have stood as the first line of defense of the High Clerist's Tower. To not let Palanthian citizens take part in the rebuilding of the Tower takes something away from our heritage. It tears at our hearts. If the Emperor was a true Palanthian, he'd know the history of the Tower, what it means to us, and what it would mean for us to help rebuild it."

Reconstruction efforts on the Tower have stalled since the last reports in the Herald. The dwarves of Compound had originally estimated completion of the work by Yule. However, weather-related delays and ongoing disputes about wages have delayed the completion, perhaps until the end of Brookgreen, according to an unnamed source in the Imperial Palace.
