Fourth Watch rising 9 ![]() 79 Arrested; Charged with Heresy.by Kendermage, Staff Writer Wemir, Northern Ergoth – 79 people in the town of Wemir have been arrested and charged with "Heresy against the Empire of Istar.". According to several townspeople who fled the town, a group of twenty riders rode into town about a week ago and immediately began rounding up people apparently at random. Alan Carter and his two children were some of the lucky ones to get out of Wemir. Carter's wife Ashleigh was not so lucky. She and others professing faith in any god other than Draco Paladin were taken into custody by men calling themselves the Knights of the Divine Hammer Carter told the Herald, "My poor Ash, she was singled out by them devils in the red and gold tabards. Claimed she was a heretic they did. My Ash has been a lifelong member of the Silver Hearts. The grand high muckety muck o' the invaders a cold eyed bastard named Cathan Thrice-born himself pulled her outta my arms. He made it sound like he was doing me a favor for not throwing me and the kids in the cage beside her. He said some rubbish about Wemir being the staging ground for the 4th High Crusade, whatever that means. Knowing I could do nothing, I decided to take the kids and ride for Gwynned to alert the Emperor. I only hope Ash is okay." Upon hearing the report, Carter's words were met with disdain. Sources within the Imperial Palace are said to have disregarded the words of Carter. One source said, "Heresy against the Empire of Istar? That's a new one. Everyone knows Istar is dead and buried. This is just a couple of nutcases trading on famous history." Even though his claims were ridiculed, the Emperor did order a detachment of Imperial Cavalrymen to return to Wemir with Carter to rectify the situation. Carter's children are being cared for by relatives in Gwynned in his absence. Adventure HooksThe characters are part of the Imperial Cavalry detachment sent to investigate the situation in Wemir. Upon arriving in Wemir, they must figure out how to free those imprisoned and also gather infoirmation to take back to Emperor Redic about the threat posed by Cathan Thrice-Born and his band of Knights of the Divine Hammer.
