Eye on the Crowd – Reconstruction of the High Clerist's Tower

Palanthas- Recently there has been a lot of talk about the reconstruction of the High Clerist's Tower. Emperor Markham hired a group from Compound to supervise the repairs to the tower and has offered them a big bonus to completely it a short amount of time. There is much consternation regarding this decision. The Palanthas Merchant's guild is all out of sorts, because the Emperor bypassed the proper procedures in granting the charter. Tradesmen throughout Palanthas are upset because it took jobs away from local craftsmen, who could have used the work. And the Senate is bristling mad at what it sees as a blatant violation of its law making powers.

The Herald wants to know... "What do you think of the Emperor's decisions in rebuilding the HighClerist's Tower."

Benson Uth Kristar, Knight of the Crown had this to say:
"Well, I'm glad he's moving to repair such a national monument so quickly. The Tower has such a vital historical significance, as well as a vital defense to the city. In ancient times, the dragonarmies couldn't breach the towers. And the tower has defended the city yet again. I just hope the dwarves aren't cutting corners to finish it so fast."

Delilah Samson, self-styled Wizard of the Black Teddy offered these comments:
"Obviously the so-called Emperor is doing what all men do; create overly long symbols of themselves to make up for their shortcomings. Now that the tower was damaged, he feels he needs to spend large amounts of money to build a tower to his "magnificence." We should be talking about what he did to his wife, not about some old tower."

Martin Pascale, Imperial Page, shared these thoughts:
"Emperor Markham is our sovereign it isn't for the likes of me to second guess his decisions; though I think fixing it up is a good thing. At Yuletide, I like to take my family to see the tower. We sit on the road, picnic, and I tell them heroic stories about famous defenders of the tower including Sturm Brightblade. I'm glad to hear that it'll be ready by Yule"

Shmuley Boteach, stonemason had these fiery barbs:
"Markham don't give a damn who he screws over. His callous lack of concern for the common folk is appalling. His little business arrangement with those fellas from Compound, took away a project me and several other masons in Palanthas could have used. Did our "Emperor" give any though to that&cdeil; Hell No! I hope he rots in the belly of a dragon."
