High Watch falling 14 ![]() Palanthian Scholars Discover Relics of a Lost Cultureby Nael, Staff Writer Garret - Sages at the University of Palanthas were recently invited to investigate a series of strange ruins discovered on the western shores of the isle of Sancrist, near the city of Garret. Initial investigation revealed that the ruins were actually a mortarless stone construction which shares many similarities with early elven construction techniques. According to the scholars, it appears that the ruins may have been buried during one of Mt Nevermind's active periods several millennia ago. Few artifacts have been discovered other than shards of PGS (Pre-Gnomish-Settlement) pottery and many scholars speculate that the site was exposed on more than one occasion and possibly used as a refuse pit by whichever culture inhabited the geologically unstable area at that time. That is not to say that some very important discoveries have not been found. Deep within the ruins a burial chamber has been discovered with the remains of a large humanoid creature. "This humanoid creature shows physical features of both elf and man, but it's much larger than what is common today," said Cameron D'Montie, one of the scholars attached to the expedition. "My esteemed colleagues and I believe that this find will have important ramifications on our knowledge of ancient times. The remains and assorted relics we have discovered may even point to a common ancestor to both elf and man." D'Montie is expected to arrive in Palanthas with the remains within the next month. |
