Morning Watch rising 5 ![]() Eye in the Crowd – Putting a Price on Safetyby JOSHUASIGEP44, Staff Writer Palanthas - In short. yes they can, and in fact they already have. The city at large will remember that earlier this year several sorcerers died due to the outbreak of a mysterious and frightening disease. As is common place foul play is suspected to be the cause of the maladies. Sorcerers across the city have been up in arms for months trying to get the City Senate to step in, and sort out this issue. So what does that have to do with your safety? Well, the senate recently met with the well known sorcerer, Hickutakl in a session that was closed to the public. What was discussed can only be guessed at, but the decision made in that secretive meeting has been made public. The City Senate has allotted the City Guard 500 steel to commission mercenaries local to Palanthas to make further investigations into the cause of the outbreak. According to public records such a kingly sum has never been withdrawn from the Palanthas coffers for what many view as a private military action. Many citizens are left to wonder why it is that the City Guard cannot handle the situation themselves. Others are unnerved at the thought of having sell swords running amok in our city on official business. So the Herald wants to know... Are you confident that the City Senate has made the correct decision by hiring mercenaries to handle a city matter? Deter Guadalupe, night watchman, stated the following: "500 Steel! That's more steel than I have ever made in my life. It upsets me to know that my taxes are going to such frivolous purists. Last I looked we have a large amount of Coty Guards in this city, Why is it that they cannot do this for themselves. Is it beyond them? Maybe we should fire the lot of the Guard, and just hire on the mercenaries." Walton Longoak, carpenter, shared his feelings on the matter: "Last I heard them that was dying was sorcerers. Now I don't claim to be an authority on sorcerers, but I think they should be able to work it out on their own. They should be able to, well, sort out just about anything. After all we are forgetting one thing here. They can do MAGIC! Why do they need my tax steel anyway?" Lakion Jouylm, noblewoman, let her opinions be known: "This is laughable. Give the Senate what they are due. We all pay taxes and they are the leaders of the city. So of course the Senators have nothing, but the best interest of the city in mind in whatever they do. All these questions about the integrity of our noble Senators make me think of one word, Treason! Now good day to you sir!" |
