First Watch falling 1 ![]() Replica of Palanthas Unveiledby SephZero, Staff Writer Palanthas - The first ever unveiling of a full-size scaled sculpture replicating the city of Palanthas along with its neighboring mountains and bay drew a large crowd to see this work. The completed work was of such a size that it covered an entire wing of the studio in which it was displayed. "The craftsmanship is simply stunning," Eltam Sageth, a local noble, remarked after witnessing the work. "One can not fathom the level of detail going into this. My manor was splendidly recreated and the new stables I had furnished a mere two weeks ago were present as well." The Palanthas replica is the result of fifty years of work by one Kyan Chiselcut, who came to the city in the wake of the Blue Lady's War. A skilled craftsman, he found work aiding in the repairs of the city from the ravages of the war. Soon afterward, he set up a studio for himself and announced his intention of building a sculpture of the city. Citizens keenly remember the sight of the stout dwarf trudging up and down the streets of the city as he took notes and measurements. Throughout the following decades, Chiselcut became a common sight for many as he walked about the city. According to many Palanthians, this stopped when the Dark Knights occupied the city, at which point he retreated to his studio sending his apprentices out to handle any affairs. Chiselcut himself declined to make a public appearance during this showing, instead having one of his many apprentices handle the communication and showcasing. "The master is extremely exhausted from his long work and needs his rest," Allen Nine-fingers, an apprentice, stated to the Herald. "He has spent a good few decades pouring himself into this work. After achieving this milestone, I think even I would plop down on the cot for a week or so." The apprentices were careful to ensure that all observers keep a safe distance from the sculpture in order to not damage the work. Mounted telescopes were provided to allow visitors to observe the fine detail of the work. The attending kender especially had a close watch over to ensure no trouble from them. Nine-Finger has stated that it was Chiselcut's wish to allow the people of the city whom he loves to see this work and would be allowing daily showings for those that wanting to view it. He declined to remark on what future plans Chiselcut might have and insisted that his master simply wishes to sleep for now. |
