Eye in the Crowd – What Dangers Lurk Within the Pearl of Tilyssa?

Palanthas - Last week an adventuring party returning from the Ice Reach presented the Pearl of Tilyssa to the Jeweler's Guild. The guild has been fit to burst about the return of the jewel to Palanthas. The first task was to identify and prove that the pearl in question was indeed the treasure that belonged to pirate Jacque du Paul.

Once this task was accomplished, the jewel was to be inspected by Gerom Fros the representative from the Tower of High Sorcery. Gerom Fros was less than forthcoming about the jewel. However, he did admit that the jewel has an aura about it that proves it is a magical item. He advised the Jewelry guild strongly against displaying the jewel.

The guild has stated that they will take his warnings under advisement, but felt that no decision should be made until further investigations are completed. Many questions have been made about the identity of the adventurers who discovered the pearl, and the circumstances of its removal. So the Herald wants to know...

"How should the guild handle their newfound ownership of the famous Pearl?"

Henry Kylon, street sweeper:

"Aye, they are being too silent about it. I would love to get a look at that bauble. It's a historical artifact, and it belongs to the city. Not to the guild. Mark my word. It will not be long before the guild decides that the jewel is unsafe for display, and it will get locked away in their vault. Then it will disappear and then get sold behind everyone's back."

Wayland Takom, White Robe:

"I intend to seek out Gerom Fros, and find out about his investigations. If his conclusions about the conjuration magic are correct then I would safeguard the stone as closely as possible. If it has that type of magic there is no telling what might suddenly appear once it is displayed."

Joshua Qubert, palace guard:

"I would like to know more about the adventurers that brought the pearl back to the city. Surely they could answer many of the questions surrounding the pearl. I heard that they said the pearl was guarded by creatures. That begs the question, why was it being guarded by creatures and not locked away in some high tower?"
