Eye in the Crowd - Looking at the Brighter Side of Things

Palanthas - Residents of the Cityhome have grown all too accustomed to hearing about some dreadful new tragedy that has befallen the Jewel of Ansalon, ranging from a murderer escaping out from under the noses of the City Guard or two murderous sorcerers having at each other on dragon back over our heads. It should be shared that both of those were headlines from last week's Herald.

Given the off chance that they are not actually murdered in their sleep by an invading mintoaur slave ship or poisoned by the cities deteriorating water supply, many of Palanthas lifetime residents are choosing to leave the city for a quieter life style in some country get away. Thanks due largely to many issues, one of which is the sudden flood of eleven refuges. Indeed, it is becoming harder with every passing day to find living quarters within the city walls.

Amidst all these tragic events and pressing issues it's easy for someone living in Palanthas to grow cold to the city itself. To forget what it was that they liked about the city in the first place. So the Herald wants to know...

"What are some of the things that you enjoy about living in Palanthas?"

Jacob Mastersmith merchant ship captain:

"Aye, the Cityhome is easy on the eyes. Palanthas has a beauty that cannot be found anywhere else on. Not to say that it's more beautiful than another city, but it's just different, not better just different. She is the trading hub of Ansalon to boot. Sure, a city her size is going to have her problems, but she even makes those problems seem trivial at times. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else."

Keith Duroing, stone mason:

"Sorry to dissapoint, but there's not much about the city I do like anymore. For starters, the city is in Solamnic hands, and lately they haven't been trustworthy. In addition to that there's very little interesting left here. Sure we "had" a tower, and once the greatest library in the world, but now it's no better then the Ergothian capital. Now that's an interesting place!"

Jeremy Sharp, sword smith:

This city is the watermark that all other great cities use. Name another city that has been more acclaimed or celebrated. Aside from Istar of course. We all know what happened to Istar. All roads lead to Palanthas, and everyone who is anyone follows those roads to our city gates. That's what I love about Palanthas."
