Eye in the Crowd – The Grove and the City

Palanthas - For years the Shoikan Grove has been a topic the citizens of this city have chosen to avoid, but that has been growing increasingly harder to do as the grove has been getting a fair amount of coverage lately. Some months ago the Witches of the Living Krynn collectively entered the grove to try and rid the grove of its evil enchantments. Just a few short weeks before tree saplings from the Shoikan Grove were being sold as potted house plants. The city has since been made aware that those saplings are indeed dormant monsters that will surely kill their owners once fully matured. If you all remember correctly the Eye in the Crowd warned against the purchase of those plants.

The events referenced above all occurred within the past year. That being said, there has been another vain attempt to clean the area around the grove brought to the City Senate. The request was made by a Sirrionite last week. If allowed he aims to refurbish the buildings near the Shoikan Grove.

The request has not only met with disapproval from the members of the City Senate. Wizards of the Black robes living in Palanthas are up in arms over the request as well. Apparently the recent attempts by certain groups or individual's to meddle with the Shoikan Grove have not sat well with the Conclave of High Sorcery. The black robes have made it known that the conclave is not happy about any further involvement with the Grove. So the herald wants to know...

Should the City Senate adopt a live and let live policy in dealing with the Shoikan Grove?

Fankish Goldbottom, innkeeper, had this to say:

"Of course they should. I've lived in Palanthas my whole life and that accursed wood ain't never been the cause of any deaths. Well, that is up till a few months ago when folk starting meddling with it. Things like that shouldn't be meddled with. When I was growing up people just avoided it, avoided it like the plague actually. Leave the grove to the wizards. Let them deal with it."

Bailey Collins, philosophy student at the University of Palanthas, passionately stated the following:

"That grove is an affront to all that is good and right with this city. The City Senate should make every effort to rid the good people of this city of its evil. I can only hope that this Sirrionite priest's efforts will bring us further to what should be our ultimate goal, the dissolution of the Shoikan Grove."

Raklin Daystone, crab fisherman, coldly made his feeling known:

"I don't really give a damn. I say to the Abyss with all of them. If some Tom Fool wants to waste his time and money trying to get rid of the grove that's fine with me. I don't really care if he even gets killed in the attempt. That Grove has been there for hundreds of years. So why is it that just recently people have started taking a interest in it? Glory hunters if you ask me. Well that's fine, let them go get their glory, and I hope that they get a double share."
