Eye In the Crowd – A Knighthood In Turmoil

Palanthas – Kirinor before last the City Guard found the body of Bors Ekland in a warehouse on the waterfront. Bors Ekland, Knight of the Crown, was found with the name Androctus craved into his breastplate. The City Senate was understandably unnerved by this incident, but after receiving certain assurances from the Knighthood the Senate was calmed.

No less than two weeks later Gareth Hawkeye, a Knight of the Crown reported that one of the Knighthood's recruitment centers within the city had been vandalized. Outposts throughout the city have often been the objects of vandalisms due to the fact that the knighthood frequently falls in and out of favor with the general populace of the city. What sets this incident apart is the graffiti that was left behind on the walls of the building. Once again the name Androctus was found amongst various other slanderous phrases as "The Oath Is Hollow".

Most city officials are not terribly excited at the idea of the Knighthood's internal squabbling being played out within their city walls. Only slightly more upset than city officials are the Knights themselves. Who are none-too pleased to have this incidents take place on such a public stage as Palanthas. So the Herald wants to know...

Should the Knights withdraw their Knights outside the city walls until this situation is resolved?

Benton Uth Fradeth, Palanthas City Senator: "I most assuredly think so. It's absurd that they have failed to do so already. Since they are directly putting the citizens of Palanthas in harm's way they should withdraw. Let the protection of Palanthas fall to the City Guard. I will be introducing a legislation this week that will demand the Knighthood withdraw until a time that the Senate deems their return safe.

Gregory Uth Markham, retired Knight of the Rose: "Oh yeah, sure they should withdraw. Why they're at it why don't they just disband completely. After that all those ex-knights should take down the High Clerist's Tower as well. What good will it do for the Knighthood to withdraw from Palanthas? In addition to that what danger are the citizens really in? As soon as the word got out that the Knighthood had withdrawn from Palanthas you can be sure that the Dark Knights would be knocking at our door. Who would be there to stop'em, the City Guard? The whole idea is ludicrous!"

Grima Strangham, innkeeper from Palanthas: "God I hope they don't leave. That might sound a bit selfish, but the Knighthood makes up half my business. Not only do they spend loads of steel in my place they also keep out all the riff raff. I say let 'em stay 'cause any trouble they cause is well worth it 'cause they solve plenty more than they start."
