Eye In the Crowd – Has Justice Been Served?

Palanthas - If you find yourself walking by the Dead Dwarf Inn these day be sure to admire the new banner that hangs tightly across that establishments oak double doors. As the Dead Dwarf Inn is frequented by many Palanthians, I would assume that most of my readers have glimpsed it, but if you are among the few that have yet to see it in person and you would rather not take the time out, allow me. In huge letters painted red the phrase reads "JUSTICE FOR ALL".

The Dead Dwarf has long been the regular gathering place for all off duty Palanthian marines. So the banner being displayed at the inn comes as no surprise to most. As you might have surmised the banner is in protest of Lord Regent du Chagne's decision to release the captain and crew of the Red Marauder with no penalty after they slew 38 brave Palathian marines only 6 short weeks ago.

Apparently under threat of war, the Lord Regent released the prisoners to minotaur imperial officials after a secret meeting between the two groups. So the Herald wants to know...

Should the Lord Regent have released the prisoners of the Red Marauder?

Carmello Francesca, representative of the Lord's Palace: "The Lord Regent understands the public's reaction, and expects a certain amount of disapproval. With that being said you must understand his position. He has the safety of the city to think of, and detaining the crew of a minotaur slave ship would be paramount to declaring war on the minotaur empire itself, and trust me, that's a battle we cannot win. The city as a whole will just have to trust the Lord Regent on this matter."

Dayou Kuykendall, tax collector: "So the Lord Regent had the best interest of the city in mind? Ha! That's a wonder to me. I can only imagine what those beasts said to him behind those palace doors. He was paid for the release of those murders. I can guarantee you that the Lord Regent has added a good amount of steel to his collection of gold, you know in that tower of his."

Paula Starstone, widowed mother of twins: "My husband was one of the marines killed in that attack. He died freeing slaves. He died serving a cause. He died for a city that has apparently forgotten about him in death. Is it not enough that he was murdered, but now the Lord Regent has let his killers go free? I don't care who they are or were they are from. If you kill 38 of their kind on any of the Minotaur Isles you would be dead before morning. What do we do because they threaten us with war? We let 'em go. My husband is crying out from his grave for, for ...FOR JUSTICE!"
