Eye In the Crowd - Are You Scared?

Palanthas - It would seem that the threats made by the White Veil last week were not empty ones. Most thought the terrorist group would target the Senators or other city officials if they did make good on their threats of violence. In an unsettling turn of events the White Veil turned their aggression not on the city leaders, but on the commerce hub of Palanthas, the Labyrinth. In all five vendors reported damages totaling in the thousands of steel.

Seeking an end to the Mind Reading bill currently being debated on the Senate floor the Veil is offering the city no quarter as the extremist group seems determined to bring Palanthas to its knees if the bill makes it out the senate door. The City Senate issued a public statement in response to the White Veil's original threats, assuring the citizens of the Cityhome that violence by the White Veil will only be met with equal force from the city.

The Veil's intent seems clear enough to most. If the City Senators will not listen to the Veil then they will turn their attention to terrorizing the city. So the Herald wants to know...

How has the attack effected you, and has it forced you to change anything about your life due to the threat of future attacks?

Azrith Tanimura, weaponsmith: "Of course it has affected me and no my day to day hasn't changed too much. Well...other than the fact that I'm trading loads more arms in Palanthas than I usually do. The Veil has to get good weapons from someone and they can't buy 'em via the conventional avenues. I mean I can't exactly identify 'em to the City Guard, nor would I want to. My sales are way up thanks to them. In addition to that the citizens are arming themselves as well, more's the better for me."

Aydindril Tamarang, mother of four: "I'm terrified. I won't even let my children go outside unless I'm right there with 'em. The thing that is so scary is that we don't know who is in the White Veil. We can't put a face on the enemy. It could be anyone, my neighbor or the lady who sales the apples at the end of my street. Who knows when or where the next attack will be? I'm just going to hold up inside my house until this passes over."

Kahlan D'Hara, White Robe mage: "Anyone would be a fool or a liar if they said that this attack, and for that matter the threat of a future attack, does not affect their life. The trick is not to change anything about your day. Show your face. Go about your day like you would do normally. That is the only true way to defeat cowards like the White Veil. If you hide away you are only letting the White Veil know that their attack was successful. If they force us to change our lives...well, then they have already won."
