Eye In the Crowd - Who Is Safe in This City?

Palanthas - Better lock your doors, and keep your children close at your side because night has fallen in this city and I can see no dawn. Palanthas was once one of the safest cities in all of Krynn, but no more. Not to say that Palanthas has not always had more than its fair share of problems, but many citizens can think back to gentler days. Days when neighbors were able to leave their doors unlocked and children were able to play in the streets without a care.

Why should you not allow your children to play outside anymore? Just ask Revered Daughter of Paladine Clarissa Thurston. Oh but wait, you will have a deal of a time trying to ask her because she went missing last Bracha, and foul play is suspected according to the City Guard.

Thurston was last seen in attendance at the city wide auction of the bones of dead gods Paladine and Takhisis. Thurston was perhaps the most vocal protestor at the auction. After the auction Thurston never returned to her temple. So once again I took to the streets to find out:

"Who do you think is responsible for Thurston's kidnapping?"

Austopen Miklar, city street sweeper – "Thurston was kidnapped? How on Krynn did I miss that'en? She was a real nice ol'lady, and was always waving at me when I'd be sweeping outside that temple of hers. Ya' aren't thinking she could be in any danger? There ain't no tellen who took her really. If I had to blame her going missing on something I would say it's got more to do with this recent crime wave than the City Guard is will'en to admit. Really how does things like this happen?"

Verlmita Jipon, water supply supervisor – "It comes as no surprise to me that she is missing. I mean I hate it that she has been kidnapped, but Palanthas has gotten really bad and I don't see that it is going to get better anytime soon. Can we honestly call it a kidnapping? She has been missing for what, a few days now and not one ransom demand. I would not call that a kidnapping so much as a murder victim that has yet to be found. I don't expect to see her under the sun again. No doubt it has something to do with that elf she was harassing about those bones. I heard she practically ran him out of town. Lost him a good bit of money as well, I imagine."

Caitlin Brighton, City Jailer – "Last I heard about Thurston was when she went in front of the City Senate and lobbied for the Temple of Takhisis. I would have never thought I would live to see the day that a Daughter of Paladine would stand up for the Dark Queen. I heard loads of people were upset about that. Maybe the City Guard and those knights I see running around should look into that a bit. It is a real shame that Palanthas criminal element has grown so much. Who would have ever thought that such a public figure could have been taken from us in plan view? It's a shame really."
