Eye In the Crowd – How Much for a God's Ring Finger?

Palanthas - This past week the Palanthian faithful visiting the Temple district were witness to a rare treat. I don't use the word rare lightly because something must indeed be spectacular for the populace of Palanthas to stand up and take notice, and notice they did. What could be important enough for the City Guard, church ranking officials, and wizards from the Tower of High Sorcery to all be so visually disturbed?

No, don't worry you can pick that glass of water back up it's fine to drink, and no I wouldn't worry too much about another Dark Knight invasion. All is indeed well inside the city limits, but if you were one of the lucky few to see traveling peddler and businessman Lafallot Reyelhart, an elf, then you might understand a little better. Reyelhart arrived in Palanthas this past Newkolt claiming to be in possession of the bones of the two gods widely believed to have died during the War of Souls, Paladine and Takhisis.

As you can imagine Reyelhart received a sudden surge of interest from a number of parties when he declared that he would put the bones up for auction. That begs the question:

How much are the bones of two dead gods worth to you, and what would you use them for?

Da'makom Lonsten, cobblers' apprentice – "Sir, I tell ya' that I would make shoes for free from now till the next Cataclysm to get me some of them there bones. Could you imagine having, well, ahh.., Takky's ring finger, or Paladine's shin? There's no tellen' what kind of power stuff like that's got. My ol' cobbler would put'em to good use, I tell ya'. We could make so much steel with something like that. Ahh, it's a small matter anyway. There gonna go to some rich folk who's gonna use it to just get richer."

Jacob Niumt, monk of Majere – "I'm not so sure about this elf's motives. What's his name, oh yeah Reyelhart. Well, I will not comment about Takhisis, but I'm sure the great god of light Paladine is extremely uncomfortable with the auctioning off of his bones as he is most certainly still using them. As the people of Palanthas should do well to remember Paladine is no more, but he now walks as the mortal Valthonis, an elf. I assure you that those bones are not what they seem, buyer beware."

Neyia Peglar, retired royal palace maid – "I hate to think that some greedy merchant is going to end up pocketing these bones. It will keep me up nights, and I don't have to many left, to know that some ungrateful donkey will be handling these holy artifacts with his sweaty hands. They belong to the church, and the city should see to it that they end up there. I would not give him a single piece of steel for them. I have half a mind to go over there right now and let him have it, and then make off with the bones. What right does he have to bilk the faithful of this city out of hard earned wages? Someone should do something."
