Darkwatch falling 19 ![]() Eye In the Crowd - A Big City With a Bigger Problemby JOSHUASIGEP44, Staff Writer Palanthas - With an ever increasing crime rate Palanthas has truly become a den of thieves. Last week the City Guard reported 23 incidents of home invasion, and theft. Not to be outdone the Hawkstones attacked and slaughtered a caravan just outside the city limits. The City Guard has offered many explanations, but not one arrest has been made. How much has the crime rate grown in Palanthas over the past year? This same week last year there were just 3 reported cases of robberies. The City Guard has been quick to dismiss any notion of a crime wave although they are investigating the possibility that these crimes might be related somehow. Cooperating with the Knights of Solamnia , the City Guard has doubled its patrols in the most targeted areas, but will it be enough? So once again I took to the streets to find out. Do you feel safe in your home? Jarvius Degum, stable boy: "Well, I sure am sorry that some rich folk got robed. I tell you I'm all broking up over it, really I am. The people of this city need to wake up and realize that those that go without will only do so for a period of time. I'm not saying that what happened to those folks was okay, but I doubt they even really give a damn about the stuff that was stolen. They just want to see those that done it to 'em gets punished. You see rich folk don't like to think that people can use them. Well, they can and will. Do I feel safe in this city, yes. Reason being I got nothing people want to take from me." Davis Georgth, retired merchant vessel captain: "This city has become so large that the City Guard just cannot keep up with the populace. It's by no fault of theirs that those houses were broken into. I'm mean if people are going to do something illegal, and have their mind set who's going to stop them? I hate to hearing about stuff like this because it really gives Palanthas a bad image. The City Guard is increasing patrols and I'm glad to hear it. Cause with them around I feel safer." Deborah Eilkom, retired mid-wife: "My sons won't let me go to the market any longer by myself because of the crime in this city. I remember when people used to have more respect for each other's propriety. Now everyday I hear that someone has been murdered or robbed. Palanthas has really gone down hill if you ask me, and I for one don't think we have seen the worst of it yet." |
