Eye In the Crowd – Hauntings of a Dark Queen

Palanthas - Of late Palanthas has been a hot bed of controversy. Of course the news of a new scandal is non-too surprising to many residents of our great city, but the source of the controversy is not something one might expect. What is the cause of this newest scandal? In a city where there are rumors of a Mintoaur invasion, contaminated water supply, or a new gate tax every other week, what could be the source of all this but the Queen of Darkness, Takhisis.

Five days ago a riot erupted that resulted in the questioning and eventual arrest of five Palanthas citizens. The disturbance reportedly began when one man began publicly spouting off Dark Knight propaganda. In that same strange week, Revered Daughter of Paladine, Clarissa Thurston stood up in front of the Senate to protest the destruction of Takhisis's last remaining temple in Palanthas.

Strange things are indeed afoot in Palanthas. This reporter took to the streets to find out just how the public feels about these latest developments, and asked:

How do you feel about all the press Takhisis, the goddess of lies, and her Dark Knights seem to be getting lately?

Jargo Malpeth, proprietor of the Dead Dwarf Inn, a popular tavern near the city docks, had this to say. " Listen I've suffered through the Dark knights occupation jus' the same as the rest of ye, and I ain't going take to kindly to some Tom Fool going on about how he'd welcome'em back with open arms. I hear the city guard's got'em locked up in that there jail. Some folks are all up in a fuss about it, but loads of others are callen for a hanging. I say to the abyss with'em. Hell, I'd tie the noose if they'ed let me"

Dayton Sega, a local fisherman: "What in the Abyss is Thurston dribbling on about anyway? She was plenty respectable enough some year's back, but I think she has gone as bad as yesterday's catch. Seems to me that I remember when Takhisis was hated, and a Daughter of Paladine would have been at he front of the line to see anything of Taky's sleep with the fishes."

Ylredle Apshire, a retired seamstress: "What fools there are that live in this city. Never seeing further than the end of their own disgusting face. I guess the masses of dolts that call this city home have already forgotten that it was by her hand that the dragon overlords were slain. My Dark Queen was not only this city's savior, but Krynn's as well. That not withstanding how do we seek to repay her legacy? The elitists that sit on the city's Senate want to tear down her glorious temple. Sad is the day when the Dark Queen's followers look to a servant of Paladine to be our champion. Historical landmark indeed!"
