Lord Toede Arrives in Palanthas

Palanthas - Just a week after the Lord of Palanthas released the information that Lord Toede and a delegation from Eastern Ansalon were coming to Palanthas itself, the legendary hobgoblin lord himself walked down the streets of Palanthas just yesterday.

A horde of citizens turned out to the section of the Palanthas harbor where the Hellmaiden, Toede's ship that was purchased in Kalaman, was docking. The ship, with black-stained wood and thick green sails, made quite a scene entering the harbor.

Lord Toede managed to make quite an entrance, in full court regalia, which looked very similar to the hobgoblin's old armor when he was a Dragon Highlord. Flanked by his loyal advisor Edmund Ravensdane and his bodyguard, Lord Rogate the Charismatic, the Lord of Flotsam made a triumphant entry into Palanthas, amidst storms of applause, much to the surprise of Sir Damion Guerman, who had arrived with a full company of Solamnic Knights a few days earlier.

"We had archers on the walls, completely prepared for a trap or for some sort of deception," the Knight of the Rose explained. "But then nothing happened. The crowd applauded, but that was to be expected, really. Any person skilled with showmanship can make a crowd applaud. What really shocked me was the condition of those 'Toedaic Knights,' the bodyguards. They looked well trained and quite, well, interesting, in their green-black steel armor."

Lord Toede's full delegation were met by Lord Regent Bakkard du Chagne at the gates of the city and, after a full tour, the entire group were taken to the Lord Regent's manor, where they will stay for the duration for the trip. As to how long the duration would be, Toede remarked to the Lord Regent, it would be until "matters are dealt with."

But that wasn't the only surprise. Just an hour after Toede entered Palanthas, a gnome ship out of Kalaman entered the Palanthas Harbor and their spokespeople requested that they join Lord Toede's party immediately. The two spokesmen, one Flotsam human Edger Nunce and a gnome called Manifew, were instantly accepted by Lord Toede, much to the disgruntlement of the Lord Regent.

"Serves him right," Lord Pilivan Sasmere commented from his manor. The noble merchant, who had not come out to welcome Lord Toede yesterday, commented smugly how he would not like to be in the Lord Regent's predicament. "He's got to put up with hobgoblins, kender, gnolls, minotaurs, and now gnomes! What's next, draconians?"

The Lord Regent also stated that official talks involving the proposed Confederation of Northern Cities will begin immediately, and should last for a sizable amount of time. He also mentioned a few other foreign dignitaries may arrive, including, rumor has it, Governor Kang of Teyr. This has not yet been confirmed though.

It is a fact, however, that the Flotsam delegation will be staying in Palanthas for the Yule Celebration, hopefully to the enjoyment of all.
