Darkwatch rising 18 ![]() Harbor Master's Offices Destroyedby Tauren Kai-Jere, Staff Writer Palanthas - The destruction of the office of a Palanthas Port Authority harbor master by fire Misham evening warrants further investigation, said a spokesman for the City Watch. One witness to the fire said they saw a shadowy figure fleeing the building "lighting quick" before members of the Golden Shield or the City Watch arrived. Kreel, 30, of Walmish, was returning home from his temporary job as a dockhand when he thought he saw smoke coming from the second story of a nearby building. "When I looked closer, it really looked like some kind of shadow person, runnin' real fast through the air," the half-ogre said. "Then it was gone and I saw the smoke coming out the window and fire." Richard uth Koeckert, spokesman for the watch, said that the recent public outcry over potential docking fee increases and the suspicious nature of the fire warrant further investigation by the City Watch. Marcus Gonderoth, head of the Harbor Dockworker's Union said the fire could give the Port Authority a flawed incentive to push harder for docking fee increases. "Rebuilding those offices is the perfect excuse for the Port Authority to really lean on the Senate to increase docking fees," Gonderoth said. "But whatever happened to all the steel the Dark Knights were hording? There's got to be some leftovers from Kinsaid's coffers that can cover the expenses." Members of the Golden Shield fire brigade responded to an alarm one block east of the Public Harbor on Mariner Street shortly following Afterwatch. After battling the flames for nearly two hours the fire was contained to the office building with no loss of life, said the City Watch. However, the building suffered extensive structural damage and will have to be razed immediately, said the fire brigade. |
