Recorders

Article written by Uziel

The Recorders form one of the upper classes in the kingdom of Baltch, in the southeastern part of Taladas. They are the wizards of the realm, who serve as advisors and aides to the Engineers. Many of the Recorders specialise in Divination, to assist them in wisely advising the Engineers, whilst others specialise in alteration to assist the builders with manipulating stone. The Recorders have their own special universities on Baltch, which would-be magic-users can attend and ultimately specialise in an area. They are taught to understand the effects of the moons and how to properly cast magic in a controlled manner.

One of the core duties of the Recorders is the repair and maintenance of The Seawall, although an even larger task for them, is the tracking and organising of the people of Baltch into work teams to maintain the wall. The Recorders occupy many of the important government seats, however if they receive an order from any Engineer, they are expected to immediately obey it. In return, the Recorders are considered to have elevated status amongst the Baltchians and are treated very well by the populace.
