Shark MenArticle written by UzielThe Shark Men are a strange cult that appeared in The Fisheries in the latter part of the Age of Despair, and were led by priests of Erestem whose aim was to crush all resistance and dominate the region. The cult has a history of secretly infiltrating a settlement, and not openly advertising their presence until they it completely under their control. When entering a new settlement, the cult tries to quietly recruit members from a village, to get a groundswell of support. Those who cannot be recruited are killed, and a shark tooth is always left with the body to signify to others who has committed the act to instil fear of the cult. Most members of the cult are blackguards or rogues that are impossible to identify when not in costume. In costume, the cult members wear a headdress helmet that resembles a killer shark, with their face showing in the jaws of the beast. The cultists wear capes of sharkskin, and gauntlets that are adorned with shark teeth, that serve as deadly claws. The Shark Men dominated the southern parts of the Fisheries through an insidious campaign of terror in the Age of Despair, but met a standstill when they tried to take on the Payan Mako of Syldar. A long and drawn out battle continued between both groups through the Age of Mortals, and still continues in the present day. References
