Publican's Day

Publican's Day is an event held throughout the Imperial League once a year, in which the Publican of each of the five major cities is forced to parade through his city without any formal protection from the government.

The event begins at daybreak where the Publican starts walking through the streets with a bodyguard that he must pay for himself. The opposing factions of the Publican are allowed to make any attempt to overwhelm the Publican and his bodyguard. Normally the events boil over into open warfare, which is allowed to continue unabated until the following day.

By sunset, the government send in the army to quell and put down any aggressive forces in the streets. Publican's Day has been the start of full scale revolts in cities of the League in the past, however it is far too popular amongst the people to enable the day to be stopped.
