First Wife

The First Wife is the favored wife of a Tegin or family head, who is in charge of the maintenance of the household in every Uigan family. The First Wife is normally the first woman taken as wife, but sometimes another more favored woman can be chosen to have the role.

The role of First Wife is responsible for the family's herds, as well as being in charge of foaling. All internal tent matters are handled by the First Wife, although she can be overruled immediately by her husband in any matter if he chooses to intervene.
