The Daystar was an amulet of great power, crafted long ago by the wizardess Asvoria. The amulet protected her from any magical attacks or enchantments. With the Daystar and a magical sword called the Aegis, Asvoria was a force that made Krynn tremble.

The people of Ansalon didn't take long to unite against Asvoria and marched against her keep and armies. Before Asvoria was destroyed, she hid the amulet in the deep recesses of Cairngorn Keep in the tunnels below. Behind a secret door and in a cavern of ice, Asvoria cursed the soul of a white dragon called Frostclaw to guard the Daystar.

The Daystar was removed by the Young Adventurers in 354 AC as they tried to stop Maddoc, the black wizard, from resurrecting Asvoria. Asvoria's spirit used the Daystar to escape and the dark sorceress was born again to the world of Krynn.
