Sunblight

Sunblight is a wasting disease that causes anyone affected to lose pigmentation in the skin tones and their eyes to become ultra sensitive to light. Eventually any person infected with sunblight will find that they cannot tolerate bright light any longer, and that they are highly susceptible to sunburn. Sunblight cannot be cured by magic, nor can it be detected by magic except by the most powerful of spellcasters. The disease is known to only affect Elves or half-elves.

With the return of the gods following the War of Souls, the god Morgion was surprised to find his temple in Pashin was occupied by Silvanesti elves that were masquerading as lepers. In response, a bemused Morgion cast a curse on the elves to ensure their disguise was perfect... he diseased them all with sunblight. The contagion spread throughout all the elves, who now all harbor the disease and can pass it on to other elves easily through touch.
