Crucible of Darkness

The Crucible of Darkness, formerly the Test of Takhisis, is required of all Squires of the Lily in order to advance farther into the Knights of Neraka. The only result of failure by a Squire is death. There has never been a case where a Squire has survived, and if they escape all three Orders use their powers to hunt the Squire down and kill them.

It centers on three themes of Vision, Order, and Obedience. The test may be just an illusion where the Knight feels everything was real, or they may be sent on a quest that will forge them. All tests are designed by the Squire's advocate, and since no advocate wants a weak Squire the test is very difficult.

After the Squire passes, they may choose which order they would like to join. After they have chosen, the ascension will take place at a solemn ceremony at the Knighthood's headquarters, now in Neraka. The Knight will be kept in seclusion in the Skull Knight temple, there to fast and pray for four days. The Knight will then receive the Vision, blessed by a Skull Knight, and then allowed to go into the world.
