House of Old Emperors

Article written by Ambro

The House of Old Emperors or Fidas Cor Selo was a huge tomb beneath the Great Temple in Istar. The tomb was older than the temple. It was carved out the bedrock originally under the palace of the Kings of Istar and later the Emperors of Istar. Every true ruler of Istar was buried in the tomb from the kings to the Kingpriests. Each was laid on marble slabs in pillared vaults. The vaults were sealed with twenty-foot doors that had reliefs of the men buried behind them. By late Age of Might, many of the reliefs were worn, but all the Kingpriest reliefs were sharp as the day they were carved. Some said Paladine protected them. The tomb was vast and even by the late Age of Might there were still many open places.

The sculptor, Nevorian of Calah, did the relief door for Symeon IV's tomb.
