Garden of MartyrsArticle written by AmbroThe Garden of Martyrs is a garden in the Great Temple of Istar. The garden had fruit trees, almond trees, and night blooming flowers. Birds and specially breed lizards that looked like miniature Silver Dragons and Gold Dragons lived in the garden. Scattered through the garden are moonstone cenotaphs inlaid with silver. The cenotaphs bear the names of any that have died for the church. Some of the cenotaphs are older than the Great Temple itself. One stone bore the names of the dead from the Annexation Wars, three stones were set aside far from the others to bear the names of the dead from the Three Thrones' War. The sculptor Nevorian of Calah was the artist that chiseled the names into a cenotaph for the battles fought when Beldinas Pilofiro took the throne. In 40 PC, Cathan MarSevrin first received his vision of the burning hammer in the garden. Also, many years later when Cathan and Tithian were presumed dead in the destruction of Losarcum their names were added and later removed. During the Cataclysm before the Fiery Mountain hit, the cenotaphs in the garden fell. References
