The Dagger of Ulthus was an illusionary crystal dagger created by the Black Robed Wizard Maddoc. Maddoc gave the dagger to his adopted son, Davyn, to see if he could stab the girl he loved, Nearra, in the heart.

Davyn instead threw the dagger at Maddoc's back. The dagger instantly vanished and Maddoc knew that his son had betrayed him.
