Blue Phoenix (Magical Item)

The Blue Phoenix was a talisman, in shape of a Phoenix made from one sapphire, gave Elansa Sungold the ability to commune with the elements. Much has been made of the fact that magic was gone from Krynn during that time following the Cataclysm. This is true. However Elansa was a wood shaper, a healer of trees, and in her blood ran the ability to communicate with the elements.

The whereabouts of Blue Phoenix, the sigil of her god Habakkuk, is a mystery even today. Handed down from mother to daughter over the generations of her family, it disappeared from the line of transmission. Elansa left it on the breast of Brand in Pax Tharkas after his death and it has not been seen since then.

Some equate the talisman with magic; others believe it was more than that in less than that. No one who was not in the direct line of receipt could ever have used it. It would sit as a cold lifeless jewel upon the breast of anyone not in line to receive it. It spoke to a particular gifts of Elansa's family, it was her heritage and its powers felt like magic that was only the fancy of people who had not seen magic since the gods left Krynn after the Cataclysm.
