The Fisheries

Article written by Uziel

The Fisheries is a nation location in the southern part of the realm of Taladas, nestled between Blackwater Glade to the west, and Neron to the east. Originally the Fisheries were part of the realm of Neron, but when the Great Destruction hit Taladas, the southern channel of the Indanalis Sea was blown open and a series of small islands was born, which became the contemporary nation of the Fisheries.

The Fisheries are now a realm of sub-tropical islands that reside just barely above sea level. The largest island of the nation is Syldar, which is home to the Payan Mako, who are the nominal rulers of the Fisheries. The islands have a healthy mix of both dry land and bogs, and are perpetually covered by monsoon rains. Thick mangrove swamps cover the shorelines of most islands in the region, and orchids, lilacs and all manner of lovely plant life lie in the swamps and the trees.

The channels that run amongst the islands of the Fisheries are filled with fish, which is the chief source of food for the inhabitants of the area. Dotted throughout the area are the small settlements of the fishermen, most of which are Human settlements. However a small number of Goblins, Hobgoblins and even Elves have come to call the Fisheries their home as well. The strange cult of the Shark Men has also come to call the Fisheries home since the Age of Despair.
