Blackwater GladeArticle written by UzielBlackwater Glade is a broad expanse of swamplands that are located on the southeastern fringe of Southern Hosk, eastwards of Thenol and framed along the north by the Steamwall Mountains. Prior to the Great Destruction, the glade was a humid and steamy region. However following the Great Destruction, the land sank and the waterlogged earth turned into a great series of swamps.
Due to the collected bodies of stagnant marsh water in the area, Blackwater Glade is infested with insects, and is home to alligators, water snakes, giant insects and spiders, and monstrous sized toads. Dragons are also known to make their homes here, as are the Bakali and the Swampers. The insects of the region carry all manner of diseases, and travellers are strongly susceptible to disease and fevers should they be bitten by insects. The realm is not completely devoid of plant life though. Brambles with berries are situated around pools of marsh water, and cypress trees reside on the high ground in the glade. Mangroves are dotted along the coastline of the glade, where the fresh water from the rivers of Thenol meet the saltwater of the sea. A number of settlements have attempted to been built in Blackwater Glade in the past, but all have failed. The realm is the true home of bakali and little else. References
