The western reaches of the Ring Mountains are filled with lush plants and greenery, with balmy winds coursing across the foothills from the Tamire. The western forest that runs through the foothills is known as the Ghostwood. The northern slopes are covered in snow and icy glaciers due in part to the cold winds from the Guurlamskas and the Panak Desert. In the western central part of the Ring Mountains are the Shining Lands, a curious smooth field of glass that is home to the Glass Sailors. Throughout the mountains are a number of volcanoes. hot springs and fumaroles, adding a further element of danger for travellers through the realm.

In the southern part of the realm, huge basalt columns have erupted from the earth after a large buildup of pressure and hardened into crystal. The smallest of these columns only reaches 10 feet, whilst the largest reaches over 1000 feet. The Bilo Columns are home to the Bilo Gnomes. The lower slopes of the mountains are inhabited by all manner of animals, as well as ankhegs, giant beetles, giant ants and the Abaqua Ogres. In the glacial peaks are the Saqualaminoi, the Remorhaz and cave bears. The Shining Lands are home to not only the Glass Sailors, but also the Skrit and the Horax.

Living under the very mountains are the Nylgai Hadirnoe, also known as the Scorned. This ancient clan of dwarves live deep underground and have a continual war against the savage Disir that also live under the Ring Mountains.
