War of BonesArticle written by AmbroThe War of Bones (574 PC) was a war between the Undead forces of Salius Ruven and the city of Istar along with the Knights of Solamnia. The book Histories of Movani recored the history of these events.
The PreparationA Black Robe Wizard by the name of Salius Ruven had for years in secret created an undead army and kept it in caverns under the Khalkist Mountains. The WarIn 574 PC (389 I.A.), Salius began his attacks. He defeated and scattered the Imperial Legions of the empire and each time raised the dead to add to his army. The undead army was larger than it started by the time it marched in front of the city of Istar. Salius set his forces to lay siege to the city. During this time the Emperor of Istar, Lannis the Blind, sent the First Son of Paladine, Eldan, to ask the wizards of the Tower of High Sorcery at Istar for help and they refused to attack one of their own. Eldan returned three times and they refused. Lannis then sent for help to the Knights of Solamnia in Palanthas. The knights came to their aid and when they arrived at Istar they fought continuously for two days. They defeated Salius and his legions. AftermathMany Istarans wanted to go to war with the Tower of High Sorcery in the city for not aiding them. The empire was too weak to start another war so Eldan piled the bodies of Salius's forces in front of the tower and warned them that if they betrayed Istar again, they will be the ones whose bodies will be piled up. This incident only solidified the people's distrust of Mages and also helped the empire's relationship with the magic distrusting Solamnia. References
