World GashArticle written by AmbroThe World Gash is a region in the Courrain Ocean that stretches for hundreds of miles. One edge starts near the Dimernesti Elf ruin of Mycaisa which is west of Habbakuk's Necklace. It is a region of active volcanoes that fills its waters with ash, acid, and poisons that affect the water for thousands of miles around it. The poisoning of the water has affected aquatic life and forced them to migrate away. The region is cursed and maps that bear its image suffer from a Stigmata Curse. Also, inside the World Gash are trenches filled with the blood of chaos that looks like ink. People can get infected by this ink. It drives the person mad and ink comes out the eyes and stains the lips. One way to enter the World Gash is through the ruin called the Dead Well. CreationThe World Gash was created by the Fire Dragon Blazewight using an Impaling Throne he acquired at the City of the Blood Shoal. He was trying to use the throne to heal his cursed body and at the same time the blood of Chaos tainted the land and created the World Gash. The more he used the throne the more the World Gash grew. Post War of SoulsShortly after the War of Souls in 421 AC, a Dargonesti Elf mapping expedition discovered the World Gash near Mycaisa. The expedition included Brysis, Veloxua, Quayseen, and the Minnow-Tyrant. After warning Istar and Watermere there were two more Dargonesti expeditions to explore the World Gash. The last expedition ended in disaster with twelve deaths and had only two survivors. In 426 AC, a joint expedition with Dargonesti and Dimernesti Elves was launched to see the seriousness of the World Gash. The expedition included Brysis, Echo Fury, Apoletta, Utharne, Arrovawk among others. Together they managed to find out the truth about the World Gash and entered a temporary alliance with the Mahkwahb and defeated Blazewight, but the threat of the World Gash remained. It continues to poison the surrounding waters and affect animal migrations, but likely it has stopped growing. CitiesRuinsKender TaleOne source referred to the region as the World-Gash. References
