Battle of the Valley of Fire and IceArticle written by Kranar DroginThe Battle of the Valley of Fire and Ice was a battle during the War of Souls that took place between the elves of Silvanesti and Qualinesti, against Ogres and Ogre Titans in what was forever after called the Valley of Fire and Ice. Many thousands of ogres and roughly a thousand elves were involved in the battle over the course of two days. The ogres would forever know the valley as a cursed place.
The AmbushThe combined elven armies of Qualinesti and Silvanesti were being led by Alhana Starbreeze and Gilthas Pathfinder towards the city of Sanction. There they were going to join with the Humans in attempting to defeat the Dark Knights. They had left a conquered nation of Silvanesti behind to the Dark Knights. As they were marching, word arrived to them that Silvanost had fallen to Minotaur invaders from the Minotaur Empire. The army took a moment to pause in a valley, and this was when the ogre nation sprung its trap. The ogres surrounded the elven armies in the valley, but held off from attacking them right away. They would give the elves all night to think about the doom that awaited them. Little did the ogres know, that the doom wouldn't be for the elves. The AttackThe attack did not last long. In the early hours of the second day, ogre titans began rolling house-sized boulders through the use of magic down the valley and into the elven ranks. After this initial attack, the endless waves of ogres began to descend down into the valley, and that was when the battle turned. Metallic Dragons of gold and silver began decimating the tightly packed ranks of ogres. Many thousands of ogres were killed, and the few that reached the elven ranks were quickly slaughtered. The elves would continue on to Sanction following the battle, and the valley would forever be named the Valley of Fire and Ice for the breath weapons used by the metallic dragons. References
