Ghost-Widows

Article written by Uziel

The Ghost-Widows (known by the Uigan as the Yemuna) were clanless old women from amongst the Uigan who performed secret rites to preserve the flesh of the dead Boylas and to assist them on their journey into the afterlife. The Ghost-Widows were virgins and unmarried throughout their lives and lived in caves beneath the Mourning-Stone. The old women were feared and revered by the Uigan people, and wore yellow robes and shrouds to cover their faces. Only their leader walked amongst the Uigan with her face uncovered; however her face and hair was dusted with powdered bone.
