Spellbooks of Fistandantilus

Article written by Uziel

The Spellbooks of Fistandantilus were a collection of leather-bound books with night-blue bindings and silver runes that contained all the various magic spells learnt and utilized by the powerful archmage Fistandantilus. The books emanated a strong chill and were protected by strong wards that allowed only the most powerful of spellcasters to open them. If someone of lesser magical power tried to open the books, the bindings would burn their skin and the writings would drive them mad.

It is suspected that the spellbooks were first developed by the archmage shortly after he constructed his lair of Ulgaard in the Garnet Mountains, where he practice and created over half of his magical spells. Following the demise of the archmage during the Dwarfgate War, the books were scattered throughout Ansalon and later recovered by the mage Raistlin Majere, and kept for safekeeping in the Tower of High Sorcery at Palanthas.
