DrulethenArticle written by UzielDrulethen (? PC - 1892 PC) was a male Silvanesti Elf who was imprisoned as a slave at Pax Tharkas in 1892 PC. He originally told the half-elven prince Ulvian that he was a humble elf who was requested by the Speaker of the Stars to join the Silvanesti army during the Kinslayer War. The elf complied but deserted the army at the first chance, and then became a bandit rather than work for money. He was captured by the Wildrunners and then taken to Pax Tharkas as a slave to work off his sentence. The elf was tall and rake-thin, had gray eyes and blond hair. From his excessive work in the outdoors, Drulethen had dark tanned skin and was garbed in a series of rags.
Drulethen of Black Stone PeakIn truth however, Drulethen was a sorcerer and a worshipper of Hiddukel, that had made a pact with the dark god of 1000 years of power, in return for 1000 years of service. He ruled a portion of the Kharolis Mountains during the Kinslayer War. For fifty years, he terrorised travellers to the mountains, often enslaving or killing any who crossed into his domain. Until eventually, a force of dwarves from Thorbardin and Qualinesti elves entered his realm and defeated the sorcerer. Drulethen's life was spared as both the ruler of the dwarves and Kith-Kanan believed he could be reformed and put him to work as a slave at Pax Tharkas. Slave of Pax TharkasMany years later, in 1892 PC, Drulethen befriended Ulvian, and even stepped in when the elf Splint was beating Ulvian to death, saving the half-elf from a quick death. After a short time at Pax Tharkas, a landslide occurred in which Ulvian was caught and his leg was pinned under a rock. Drulethen asked the elf Merithynos to get an onyx ring from Feldrin's tent. Merithynos complied and then the Drulethen used his magic to save Ulvian. A short while later, Dru and Ulvian became allies and agreed to help eachother to further their own goals. Dru gave Ulvian a list of items he needed to engineer their escape. When he later found Ulvian again, he came across a bloodied prince and helped to ease his wounds. Ulvian told Dru of his beating by the elf Splint and how he wished revenge on him. On receiving the items he requested from Ulvian, Dru created a golem with his magic which he used to kill Splint and then create a diversion to allow himself and Ulvian to escape Pax Tharkas. On receiving the items he requested from Ulvian, Dru created a golem with his magic which he used to kill Splint and then create a diversion to allow himself and Ulvian to escape Pax Tharkas. Showdown at Black Stone PeakHaving escaped Pax Tharkas with Dru, Ulvian did not trust the sorcerer enough to give him both parts of his magical amulet. Instead Ulvian only gave him one half and the pair returned to Dru's lair at Black Stone Peak. At Black Stone Peak, Drulethen was affronted when Ulvian betrayed him, refusing to give him the other half of the amulet and making a move to strike him down. The sorcerer retreated into his lair, warning Ulvian that he would get the whole amulet one way or another. When Kith-Kanan and his elven pursuers arrived at his lair, Dru used the Breath of Hiddukel to drive them all out. The arrival of Greenhands erupted in a fight between Dru and the elf, however Dru was triumphant, winning back the other part of his amulet and transforming himself into a wyvern. However a prolonged fight against Kith-Kanan, Greenhands, Kemian Ambrodel and the Guards of the Sun, resulted in the sorcerer's demise. References
